Silent Sedition has returned to racing in slick form this time and remains outright $5 favourite in 2016 Australasian Oaks betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Abbey Marie ($5.50) and Arcadia Dream ($8).

Will Silent Sedition justify favouritism and win the 2016 Australasian Oaks, or will one of her many talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Arcadia Dream ($8)

Perth raider Arcadia Dream has returned to racing in slick form this time and represents terrific value for money at current Australasian Oaks odds. Capping an impressive 2015 campaign with success in the Listed Aquanita Stakes (1800m), the Domesday filly resumed this time for fourth in the Listed Challenge Stakes (1500m) before running a close second in the Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m). Returning to winning form in the Listed Natasha Stakes (2200m) on March 19th, Arcadia Dream was unable to make up the distance late when second in the Group 3 WA Oaks (2400m) on April 2nd but responded in the best way possible with success in the Group 2 WATC Derby (2400m) last time out. The filly will undoubtedly require luck in running from barrier 20, but will be partnered by regular hoop William Pike.

2nd

Sacred Eye ($11)

Sacred Eye is yet to find peak condition this time, but will relish an arguable step-back in class to Adelaide racing and is more than worth consideration for a bet at current Australasian Oaks odds. A strong and consistent performer for David Hayes & Tom Dabernig in spring, the High Chaparral filly ran second in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) before beating a classy field to the line in the Group 3 Caulfield Classic (2000m) most notably; ending her season seventh in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m). Running fifth in each of the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) and Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) upon resuming this time, Sacred Eye has since finished fourth in the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) and eighth in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m), and will relish a return to her pet distance this weekend.

3rd

Abbey Marie ($5.50)

Abbey Marie has more than stamped herself as one to watch through her short racing career so far, but undoubtedly faces her biggest test to date in the Australasian Oaks. Posting an impressive win in the Cove Hotel Maiden (1300m) on debut in March, the Redoute’s Choice filly mustered an impressive turn of foot to take out the JRA BM70 (1440m) by close to two lengths on April 23rd. Trainer Mick Kent is confident Abbey Marie will relish a step-up to 2000m on Saturday.
