Finishing outside the first three only once through her 12 start career so far, Delicacy boxed on for a credible third in the Listed Make Your Own Magic Challenge (1500m) on February 14th and is since undefeated in four starts; taking out each of the Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas (1800m), Listed Natasha Stakes (2200m), Group 3 WA Oaks (2400m) and Group 2 WATC Derby (2400m).

Confident the daughter of Al Maher will have no issue in stepping back to 2000m for the 2015 Australasian Oaks, renowned Perth-based owner Bob Peters told the West Australian the team is thrilled with her condition and are confident of a competitive tilt despite her long campaign so far.

“Delicacy is well after a two-day trip,” Peters said.

“She rested in Melbourne following a flight from Perth and then travelled by road to Adelaide.

“She’s been exercised only lightly since arriving there.

“This will be a big test in view of her lengthy Perth campaign.”

Posting a commendable total of eight wins and three minor place finishes, Delicacy immediately stamped her claims as one to watch upon debuting to racing in mid-2014; taking out the Westspeed 2.y.o (1000m) with relative ease before immediately returning to the paddock.

Continuing her unbeaten run through two Perth minors upon resuming in spring, the filly out of Simply Wicked made a credible transition to black type racing when third in the Listed Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) on November 1st before returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 3 WA Champion Stakes (1600m) a fortnight later.

Receiving a brief freshen-up following a luckless run for fifth behind he likes of Rommel and Disposition in the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) On November 22nd, Delicacy returned for second in the Westspeed 3.y.o (1400m) on January 31st, in what was her only other competitive start prior to the Make Your Own Magic Challenge.
