2015 Australasian Oaks Final Field and Barrier Draw

April 28th, 2015

A talented and capacity field of 16 plus four emergencies has been confirmed for Saturday’s Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2400m) at Morphettville Racecourse, highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Autumn Carnival’s most exciting three-year-old fillies.

Fenway stormed home to secure a maiden win at the highest level last time out and undoubtedly headlines the 2015 Australasian Oaks final field.

Posting two wins and one minor place through her six career starts, Fenway was unlucky to finish fourth in each of the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) and Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) first-up this time but responded in the best way possible when taking out the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) on March 28th.

Unlucky to miss the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) most recently with a minor ailment, trainers Lee and Shannon Hope are pleased with the condition of the High Chaparral filly and are confident of continued success on Saturday.

Fontein Ruby is a proven performer over the distance and may very well jump favourite in the 2015 Australasian Oaks after being allocated the ideal barrier 2.

Fontein Ruby stamped her claims as one to watch over a largely strong and consistent spring preparation, highlighted by successes in both the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) and Group 3 Caulfield Classic (2000m).

Returning for minors in each of the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) and Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m), the Turffontein filly failed to beat a single runner home in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) but will carry winning form into Saturday after taking out the Listed Alexandra Stakes (1600m) and a Caulfield minor most recently.

Perth raider Delicacy is seeking a fifth-consecutive stakes win in the 2015 Australasian Oaks but will need some luck in running from barrier 11.

Finishing outside the first three only once through her 12 career starts so far, Delicacy charged home to win the Listed 1000 Guineas (1800m) at Ascot on February 28th and has since repeated the dose in the Listed Natasha Stakes (2200m), Group 3 WA Oaks (2400m) and Group 2 WATC Derby (2400m).

Confident the filly shouldn’t be hindered by a step-back in distance and step up in class, jockey William Pike has been confirmed to retain the ride.

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Jurasound will leave from the rails draw in the 2015 Australasian Oaks while Kansas Sunflower has been charged with overcoming the outside barrier.

Try Your Best, Coachella, Rather Heroic and Regal Magnus have been confirmed as the four 2015 Australasian Oaks emergency runners.
